Viral Information and Your Brain

Having your blog post or business information go viral is every entrepreneur's dream! But why some posts go viral while others don't is a mystery to marketers. Now, a brain scan study looks at what's happening in the brain when people look at information, and what types of information they share with others, increasing its virality.

Investigator Emily Falk, Ph.D., director of Penn's Communication Neuroscience Lab, says that, ”People are interested in reading or sharing content that connects to their own experiences, or to their sense of who they are or who they want to be.” She continues, "They share things that might improve their relationships, make them look smart or empathic or cast them in a positive light."
