While my practice covers most of the challenges that we might encounter as human beings, my focus has been on physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, stress, trauma, and PTSD. I started teaching Stress Management in the mid-90s. When I originally learned EFT in May, 2000, I quickly realized the profound effect that stress has on every aspect of our physical and emotional wellbeing. Over the past 20 years I have studied extensively the effect of Adverse Childhood experiences (ACE Study, Kaiser & CDC, 1997). Negative childhood experiences have a powerful impact on our future health and functioning and the ACE study demonstrates this. The findings are important medically, socially, and economically: The ACE Study reveals a powerful relationship between our emotional experiences as children and our adult emotional health, physical health, and major causes of mortality in the United States. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6220625/ The use of the ACE questionnaire in my intake form helps to establish a baseline for our sessions. A score of 4 or more can dramatically increase the risk of the leading causes of illness and death in the United States.
