Slow EFT for Self-Help on Broad Issues

This is an application of the basic EFT protocol I designed especially with self-help in mind.

If you have used EFT on yourself, you’ll probably know that sometimes it can happen that an issue has so many different layers and aspects, you think you have to tap forever.

This is particularly the case if the topic is a high-level nominalization, such as “money,” “happiness,” “family,” a person’s name or your own name, or an illness you have had for a very long time. These kinds of words have so many different meanings, connotations, and memories attached to them that you could easily generate a hundred opening statements or Setups and then some. When you are working by yourself, it can be most difficult to know where to start regarding a topic like that for the best effect, and I even have a suspicion that the main components to such a problem have a habit of hiding themselves from us.

Here is a simple way to use the basic EFT protocol with a single small variation involving time to release a great many aspects, whether you are aware of what they might be, or not.

Do the treatment for the psychological reversal (PR) on the Sore Spot or Karate Chop point, just saying the word or phrase you have chosen loudly and clearly, three times. There is no need to say anything else, although you can always add, “I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself” if you wish to do so.

Then, start with the first treatment point, the eyebrow point, and tap it whilst you repeat the word or phrase out loud.

Stay on the point whilst you are thinking of things connected to the word or phrase; some people have memory flashes, some have just thoughts, others see pictures or just have physical sensations, it matters not. Keep tapping throughout, on that one point, and if any emotions appear, keep tapping that same point until they have gone. When the point feels as though it has been cleared, say the word again.

Often, more thoughts arise. If they do, stay on that point until they have all gone. Repeat until you have thoroughly “cleared” that part of your energy system, take a break, drink some water, and then go on to the next point, starting once again with the PR treatment, then go on to the corner of the eye point and repeat; do all the points used in EFT in that way, one at a time.

Depending on the word or phrase you are using, this might take a while and you might want to leave some of the points for the next treatment session with yourself.

I have found this technique to be very helpful with long-standing problems that have too many different aspects to even start. It is also helpful for problems you might have worked on for a long time and you still keep finding more and more aspects.

As a further support to really clear the issues around such a presenting problem, repeat the technique once a week for a month because sometimes, when shifts have taken place, whole new areas become apparent, much like an earthquake sometimes reveals ancient ruins you couldn’t know were there before. On repeat treatments, many of the points remain clear and you get many fewer aspects emerging.

Should you come across a “heavy” memory or something you feel is of special importance in conjunction with your problem, you can make a note of it and treat it separately at another time with the full EFT protocol as well.
