Abstract

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a relatively new therapy based on stimulating acupoints on the body while talking about a distressing situation. This qualitative study used semistructured interviews to look at the experiences of EFT practitioners. Thematic analysis was used to produce an insight of what it is like to be an EFT practitioner. The main findings are that EFT is a spiritual practice; the mind—body connection is very important in healing work; a practitioner’s way of being is important; EFT usually works. The area of experiences of EFT practitioners has not been studied in this way before; this study should provide a useful addition to the literature on EFT.
